Miss Kimba & The Speakeasy Stompers
Miss Kimba and the Speakeasy Stompers (formerly Shamdoogie) are swing and jazz scene stalwarts – Between them, the members of this acclaimed Australian band have played on 5 continents from Kyrgyzstan to Denmark, Japan to Sri Lanka, and back again.
Sizzling swing and bouncin’ boogie. Smoothly crooned tunes and the odd raucous rendition. That’s what Miss Kimba and her boys are known for. Add a touch of cabaret, tight arrangements, and an old skool aesthetic; you’ve got the recipe for a successful event or function that people are certain to remember.
Miss Kimba and her Speakeasy Stompers can produce an amazing big band sound with just a five-piece line-up and their wealth of experience mean they can read any crowd. Enjoy some low key, background jazz initially. Later, see the dance-floor fill to some up-tempo swing and boogie.
This unique and authentic combo will be seen daily at the 2006 Edinburgh Festival, and recently completed a tour of Japan. Locally these players have been seen at all good jazz venues including Bennetts Lane, Dizzy’s, Lebowskis, Manchester lane, and The Kitten Club.
‘Miss Kimba and her crew had the crowd laughing and dancing at the same time… Their stage presence is mesmerizing and their chops sound.’
