Orlando Trio

ORLANDO
The Orlando Trio first formed in 1996 when the three members met at the Victorian College of the Arts (Melbourne, Australia), whilst completing their studies. The trio soon became a regular fixture on the Melbourne Jazz scene while also performing at major Australian ski resorts (Mt.Buller, Thredbo, Mt.Hotham), and completing a six month contract at the Hotel Sofitel Saigon, Vietnam.

The trio consists of guitar, acoustic bass and drums, and on request can be augmented with a guest saxophonist, female vocalist, or our male vocalist/trumpeter. All members are graduates of the Victorian College of the Arts (B.A. Music Performance, Improvisation).

The sound is R&B flavoured smooth Jazz, The Orlando Trio plays the sort of jazz people want to hear. The repertoire includes swing standards and show tunes, to Blues, Latin (samba and bossa nova), Funk and '60's Groove. The trio takes it's inspiration and repertoire from such performers as, Miles Davis, Frank Sinatra, Dave Brubeck, Billie Holiday, George Benson, The Beatles, Jobim and many others. The Orlando Trio is able to adapt to any situation, from quiet restaurants and bars, to lively club situations, where a featured performance is required.
