Joanna Lavell is breathtaking. With a voice that is truly unique and utterly captivating, she will stir you right down to your soul. Having earned herself a reputation as the ultimate groove goddess, she is the type of performer that has been likened to a muse, leaving you refreshed and inspired…

Born into a musical family, Joanna has built a firm musical foundation singing and making music from an early age. In 2002, Joanna completed a degree in contemporary music during which she studied all aspects of funk, jazz, blues and fusion music under the direction of some of Australia most prestigious musicians.

Over the past three years, Joanna has been gaining a following through her captivating live performances, whether it be with her intimate jazz quartet or fronting an energetic eight piece groove/dance band. Joanna has also performed at many of the blue ribbon Australian events including ‘Splendour in the Grass’ and The ‘East Coast Blues and Roots festival’.

Inspired mostly by seventies funk, fusion and jazz, Joanna draws inspiration from artists such as Stevie Wonder, Roy Ayers, Earth Wind and Fire, Herbie Hancock, Chaka Khan, Betty Carter and Flora Purim. Her sound will float your boat into the open waters of a smooth divine.

Joanna is not just a beautiful, sensual singer, but also a talented songwriter and collaborator.

Her songs are a like a week of Sundays - a smooth ambient blend of pop, jazz, soul and groove music, weaving a buzz from between your toes up your spine. Joanna’s stage presence is natural, friendly and inviting, making every audience member feel like her best friend.
