HARDRIVE

The Hardrive Blue Grass Band is Australia's most traditional bluegrass band. Featuring high-lonesome vocals and great instrumentals from a traditional line-up of banjo, fiddle/mandolin, guitar and double bass, their live performance and recent CD recording will give you a genuine taste of Kentucky bluegrass. Hardrive play the traditional and original music of Bill Monroe, the Stanley Brothers and Lester Flatt & Earl Scruggs with power and passion.

Hardrive launched their most recent CD – ‘Henry Lawson’s Blues’ in Beechworth on 10 August 2002. The album features 13 original tracks by the band in the traditional bluegrass style. Henry Lawson’s Blues features the fiddle playing of seventeen-year-old Lachlan Davidson, now an essential part of the Hardrive sound.

The band currently plays at acoustic venues around Melbourne, appearing at Mayfields and The East, and the Savage Club. “Henry Lawson’s Blues” and "Driven" were recorded at Redwood Studios in Ballarat in April 2002 and January 2000 respectively. Driven includes five original numbers, which were inspired by the Australian experience of Bluegrass music, and which reflect the traditional style of Nick Dear and Pete Sweatman.
