Downtown Jazz Duo comprises tenor saxophone and seven string guitar. This combination is ideal for any occasion that requires light background music from jazz standards to Bossa nova, samba, blues and other funky grooves.

Jason  (guitar)

A professional and experienced jazz, funk and Latin music performer, Jason has been working in Melbourne jazz clubs and bars for over ten years. He has performed in Rio de Janeiro and studied Bossa and samba with some of the world’s leading performers. Jason’s a talented musician and a polished performer. He has played with numerous jazz musicians around Australia and has recorded CDs with various jazz and funk ensembles.

Chris  (tenor sax/percussion)

A seasoned performer, Chris also leads his own jazz quartet and original funk band. He has performed with Marcia Hines, Nina Ferro, Julie O’Hara along with various other jazz, funk and Latin bands Australia-wide. Chris has released two jazz/funk albums and has performed at countless venues around town including Bennetts Lane, Dizzy’s, Manchester Lane, The Night Cat and The Espy.

Artists covered include Herbie Hancock, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Rodgers and Hart, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Dave Brubeck, Berlin Bros, Duke Ellington, John Coltrane, James Brown, Stan Getz, Astro Gilberto, The Meters, and Marvin Gaye.

Downtown Jazz can also perform as a trio with the inclusion of a double bass.
