Cellist - Zoe

 

Cellist Zoe Wallace studied in Adelaide with Janis Laurs and with Christian Wojtowicz in Hobart, graduating with first class honors from the Tasmanian Conservatorium of Music in 2003.

 

 During her studies in Tasmania, Zoe was awarded the Jan Sedivka Scholarship and the Thomas Matthews Memorial Scholarship. She played with the Australian Youth Orchestra, Camerata Australia and whilst participating in an orchestral fellowship with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, won a casual position in 2003.

In 2004, Zoe decided to further her studies in The Netherlands and received tuition from Jan-Ype Nota and Michel Strauss at the Prins Claus Conservatorium in Groningen. For the duration of her studies, she received a scholarship from the Makarov Foundation. During her four years in The Netherlands, Zoe played with the North Netherlands Orchestra, the Netherlands Youth Orchestra, The Kodaly-Bartok World Youth Orchestra and was a founding member of Camerata Ardesko. She took part in the Le Teil Summer Academy and the Peter The Great Festival and was an active chamber musician in numerous groups based in The Netherlands, including the Alinga Duo and the Prins Claus Conservatorium Cello Octet.

She recently returned to Australia and is now establishing chamber music and orchestral playing in Melbourne.
