BELLE MUSETTE
Experiencing French musette music brings on feelings of festivity, romance and longing. The tunes are mostly drawn from the interwar years in Paris, when the ‘bal musette’ dance halls flourished as a community meeting place
.
The music came from the magic fusion of the Italian migrant worker’s accordion accompanied by the Manouche (Gypsy) guitarists, while a double bass held down the rhythm. The three musicians in ‘Belle Musette’ , Jo Abbott (accordion), David Krycer (guitar) and Andrew O’Grady (double bass) draw upon a world of musical experiences, bringing to life again this enchanting musical brew.
